Easy Search Engine Optimisation Guide – Part 3 – 10 Best Web Directories for Irish Businesses

Irish Web Directories and Reviews

Even if they are not all Irish, the following directories are aimed for Irish Businesses and wouldn’t be relevant for other countries. I tried to find directories that are worth considering when you are trying to improve your SEO, increase your back links, etc. The good news is that I found some! However, I also found some directories which are rather a waste of time.

A good directory is a directory, which:

  1. Allows you to Submit your Business for Free and is not asking for an exchange.
  2. Publishes your Web Address for Free and opens the website in a new window (not a frame).
  3. Has a good Page Rank / Ranking in Google.
  4. Is quick to add your entry.
  5. Is easy to use for you and user-friendly for visitors.

Some of the directories below don’t fit into all these criteria but I chose to present them anyway with a quick review so you know what to expect.

It is important to say that directories are one easy way to get backlinks, and backlinks are important in the Search Engine world. However, the best links you can get are from websites in the same sector/profession. I cannot provide a list, but I will try to write a methodology in the future. In the meantime, directories can help!!

Also, don’t hesitate in sending me directories that I might have missed or let me know if one of the description is no longer true when you read this article.

Easy Search Engine Optimisation Guide – Part 1 – Content Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is one of the most important component of a website’s success.

You can have the most beautiful website, developed with the most recent technologies… it will be completely useless if you can’t reach your target, i.e., your customers and potential customers.

SEO is a job on its own. Proof is that there are companies out there selling SEO services for quite an expensive fee. It’s also a quite difficult job when you consider that Search Engines are changing their algorithms regularly and the rules are kept secret.

When a client asks me: ”Why is my site not coming up on the first page on Google for xxx keywords? Can you do something?”, my answer is always the same: ”SEO is not a science and I can’t promise that you will be on the first page of Google for competitive keywords, but there are a lot of things that can be done to improve your ranking and get you on the first pages of Google for the keywords that matter.”

One day, during a meeting, I said to one of my client that I could provide them with SEO services and his answer was: “It would be even better if you could teach us how to do it!” which I did and will keep doing.

Because I give these advices for free to my clients, I thought I should actually offer them for free to every person trying to do a basic optimisation on a website, without paying anybody else to do it. I will try to make it as easy as possible.
