In a few words
My name is Johanna Schoeffert and I am a Dublin-based freelance web and graphic designer with more than 5 years of experience in design for online and print in France, Kuwait and Ireland.
I am French, I speak fluent English, I started to learn Italian last year and I can remember some of the German I studied for 8 years at school.
Beside graphic design and new technologies, I am passionate about photography and books. This is why I like taking part in the publishing process of books or magazines.
My other interests range from acrylics painting to gardening, diving and travelling.
Brief timeline
September 1983: Born in Valence, France.
Summer 2001: I create my first website, using… Word. It’s a disaster, but I learn a lot and I get bitten by the bug.
September 2001: I start my formal education studying a DUT SRC (equivalent to National Diploma) in Communications Services and Networks (Blois, France). I spend two years exploring subjects such as art history, communications, multimedia, video editing, web design, graphic design, web development, oral and written expression, programming, networks, electronics (!) and English.
June 2003: I complete my second year with a 3-month training period in a small web agency.
September 2003: I complete my DUT with a Professional Licence (Professional Degree) in Communications (Marne-la-Vallée, France). This year offers a wider view of the Project Management side of design and gives me the opportunity to work on a life size project for the NGO “Maison Shalom” (Burundi). I am part of a team of 4 students and we create a website from start to finish.
April 2004: The Licence year ends with a 4-month training period, which I spend working for Dreamclic, a small but promising web agency in Bordeaux.
September 2004: Freshly graduated. Laurent (my boss) won’t let me go and offers me a job as a Multimedia Designer in the team! Web design, W3C standards, XHTML & CSS become part of my everyday life. Working in a small team offers me the opportunity to deal directly with the clients in order to gather their requirements and answer their queries.
November 2005: I leave France for Kuwait and find a job in a branding agency where I start as a junior Graphic Designer and finish as a senior one in June 2007. My creative director teaches me everything I know about grids and print design. I become the InDesign expert of the team and create the Arabic versions as well. It is a challenging position. I have to be both very creative and still deal with time pressure. It is interesting though and I meet some great people from all over the world.
October 2007: I land in Dublin and, after a few weeks, I start as a Web/Graphic Designer at Four5One. I am lucky enough to work with great creatives. I witness Shaughn McGrath working for months on the design of the new U2 Album (No Line on the Horizon) and I work with Gary Kelly on the BalconyTV website (who are both now working for amp visual).
December 2009: I set up my own business, Lemonfig Creative, and here you are, visiting my website and reading these lines. If you’re still wondering if I am the right person for your project, be sure that I enjoyed working on every single project presented on this site and I will make sure to enjoy working on yours!
